President’s Challenge 2020 – Postponed

After consulting with the Chapter Advisory Board, I’ve decided to postpone the annual President’s Challenge. While I’m sure that many of us have all we need in our stash to create something inspired by the movies, much of the fun and inspiration comes from shopping in a brick and mortar store. Clearly that’s not feasible for many of us this year.

If you still want a sewing challenge this year, there are plenty to be found in the virtual world. You are also welcome to start your own among the Neighborhood and Special Interest Groups or on GroupWorks.

Inspired by the Movies

As I was making a shiny silver dress for a wedding last fall, all I could think of was the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz, who was seeking a heart. That got me thinking about a new challenge—make something inspired by a movie! Consider the title, the setting, the character traits, the mood and themes, in addition to the costumes. For example, a raincoat lined with a music-themed print could be inspired by Singing in the Rain. Be creative and show us what you’ve got!

Projects will be divided into one of three categories:

  • Garment
  • Accessory
  • For the home or pet, including quilts and art pieces

Winners will be chosen at random from each category during the Annual Meeting in December.

Maximum of two entries per person. Deadline for entry is November 30, 2020.
