We’re the Portland/Vancouver chapter of the American Sewing Guild—a passionate community of makers, creators, and sewing enthusiasts of all levels. Whether you’re a total beginner, a seasoned pro, or somewhere in between, you’re welcome here.
Who We Are
Columbia River Sewing (CRS) is a nonprofit group dedicated to the joy, creativity, and skill of sewing. With nearly 200 members across the Portland metro area and Southwest Washington, our members create everything from garments and quilts to bags, décor, and fiber art.
What unites us? A shared love of sewing—and a desire to learn, share, and connect.

- Neighborhood & Special Interest Groups: Monthly meetups throughout the region for show-and-tell, support, and skill sharing.
- Chapter Events: Quarterly educational events with inspiring lectures and hands-on workshops from local and national instructors.
- Quarterly Newsletter: Our Columbia River Sewing newsletter features member highlights, upcoming activities, and sewing tips.
- Sewing Retreats: Escape with your machine and your fellow members for spring and fall retreats filled with laughter and stitching.

Join Us!
General Membership: $60/year for new members, $55 for renewals
Student/Junior Membership: $35/year
Register online at asg.org. You can also download a printable application from the same site if you prefer to mail it in. Once your membership is processed, our Membership Chair will personally welcome you to the guild.
