Event #1:  Hands-on Sewing Workshop
Friday, April 21, 9:00am-5:30pm
Sheraton Airport Hotel
8235 NE Airport Way, Portland
Cascade Conference Rooms A&B

Attendees will use Pamela’s Patterns Pleated Back Flowy Tee pattern to sew what may become their fave go-to top!  It’s casual and polished at the same time and perfect to throw on over jeans, capri pants and slim pants.  The silhouette is flowy and tunic length, with a slightly longer back – which means it will hide a multitude of fluff and scallops.  The front has a nice semi-fitted look, but when you turn around, the back is what really sets it apart. The lower back has a shirt tail hem and box pleat, sewn into a slightly curved low back yoke. As a detail option, add an exposed zipper at the back neckline for a cool trendy look. Choose between two scoop necklines and several sleeve lengths, including a flattering roll back cuff.

$135 for CRS members, $150 for non-CRS members

Event #2:  Morning and Afternoon Seminars
Saturday, April 22nd, 9:00am–3:00pm
Greater Portland Bible Church
2374 SW Vermont St, Portland

Morning Seminar: Inspo, Fitting, and Tips for Sewing Your Knit Wardrobe

Knits are a staple in our wardrobes, but many sew-ers are intimidated by working with these stretchy fabrics.  Pamela will help take the fear out of selecting, cutting and sewing knit fabrics.  Find out the easiest way to cut, the best machine and stitches to use, along with ready-to-wear secrets to get your seams, necklines and hems to lay smooth.

Now that you are empowered to sew those knits, let’s get that garment to fit just right!  Women have fitting issues to deal with no matter what their size.  Learn what you can do to make your garments fit better than anything you can buy.  We’ll discuss fitting issues such as high round back, forward and/or narrow shoulder, bust, abdomen and hips.  You’ll learn some easy ways to correct the most common fitting problems.

Join Pamela, designer and owner of Pamela’s Patterns, as she takes you through a sampling of her favorite patterns and styles.  You will also see how customers have styled their own versions of Pamela’s Patterns.  Fashions made from knit fabrics will most likely be a part of every wardrobe, and if you are making your own, you won’t want to miss helpful advice from this Knit expert!

Afternoon Seminar: Pattern Hacking

This class is for those who are interested in design. Pamela’s method of teaching design is accessible to everyone, even a beginner! Learn how to use an existing pattern to learn the design principals that are easy to learn and master. A perfect way to learn with instant gratification! Working from Pamela’s Patterns, you will see how simple changes can make these patterns do double and triple duty.  Pamela will show you how to make neckline and silhouette changes, create new sleeve designs, turn t-shirts into cardigans, and make changes to skirts, dresses, pants and jeans.  You will see how you can create pattern pieces and  make many variations. This class is guaranteed to get your “inner designer” inspired!

No sewing supplies are needed for Saturday’s seminars.

About our speaker:

Pamela Leggett has been teaching sewing since 1981. Specializing in pattern fitting, fine garment sewing skills, knits and serging she has developed a fun and informative teaching style that is available in her patterns, social media, and YouTube channel.

One of Pamela’s passions is creating garments that flatter and fit the wearer. Her desire to teach others to achieve the perfect fit led her to the Palmer/Pletsch pattern fitting method, which she has used to help hundreds of women successfully achieve good fit and a renewed love of garment sewing. It is with this knowledge that she created Pamela’s Patterns, which have many fitting solutions and adjustments built in the patterns.

Pamela’s Patterns have been reviewed and featured in magazines and on-line review sites. Pamela is a contributing writer, book author and video personality for Threads Magazine, an instructor for Craftsy, director of the Palmer/Pletsch Philadelphia and Connecticut Sewing Workshops and a national sewing/serging educator. She has also appeared on PBS’s Sewing With Nancy and Canada’s The Shopping Channel.

Pamela lives in Connecticut where she operates her business and has a teaching program at The Studio at Pamela’s Patterns in Vernon CT.  She is a national instructor, teaching in-person and virtual classes for guilds, stores, and shows.
