Sewing with Pleather/Vinyl

“Very interesting presentation. It’s great to learn new things and get new ideas for sewing.”

“I LOVED the pleather workshop. I feel I learned so much.”

“Great Job. This was the most animated, audience-interactive presentation thus far.

These are just a few of the wonderful, positive comments received regarding Cheryl Kuczek’s Sewing with Pleather/Vinyl Trunk Show & Workshop at the February Quarterly meeting.

Cheryl knew how to WOW the audience! She began her presentation with a giveaway—her Paradiso Designs Tiny Bag pattern for all in attendance. Cheryl proceeded to describe the variety and the unique features of the different kinds of pleather/vinyl on the market and how to sew them—all the while addressing the many questions being asked. She continued her talk by sharing sewing techniques and supplies for making handbags which included linings and stabilizers and her specialty handbag “hardware.” “Who knew a trip to the hardware store could be so much fun!” Her designs looked fabulous.

Our afternoon Sewing with Pleather/Vinyl workshop also began with a giveaway—3″ by 1½ yard piece of pleather in our choice of color. Our job was to sew the perfect strap by the end of the workshop. Cheryl provided the workshop participants with several practice pieces of pleather, some thick and thin, some with smooth and textured surfaces. With her knowledgeable assistance, we made adjustments to tension and thread length so we could create that perfect strap. “You must test sew your pleather/vinyl before sewing your long strap piece.” And…Voilà! The perfect strap to use with our Tiny Bag!

Participants enjoyed the workshop and were delighted with their work. Many expressed interest in learning more. We hope to have Cheryl return to share more with us and we look forward to seeing her in print in Stitch Magazine this Fall. www.paradisodesigns.com
