KatrinaWalker2Silk: From Cocoon to Cloth and Wool: From Sheep to Suit

“WOW! I never knew fabric could be so interesting!” – That’s what everyone is saying about this amazing tour through the world of natural animal fibers. Join Katrina Walker, a sewing and textile expert who also happens to be a shepherdess and silk aficionado, as she leads you along the path from raw materials to beautiful outcome.  This is no ordinary lecture – you will have the opportunity to touch many amazing hands-on samples, some of them from Katrina’s own flock, as well as samples of cocoons and silk and videos of the silk industry in Japan.

Buffet Lunch & “Sewing with Silk” Workshop, Noon-4 PM (Registration Required)

Sew silk with confidence!  Learn about the most common silk fabrics found in stores, how to sew several different seam and edge finishes, tame shifty chiffon and more.  This entertaining and educational class is guaranteed to inspire and invigorate a passion for sewing with silk.   Students will build a detailed reference notebook of the fabrics and techniques they have learned in class.

The fee for buffet lunch and workshop is $30.  In appreciation of our members, we are eliminating a class fee and only charging for the kit and a nominal lunch fee.

Class is now full. Registration is closed.
