Pushing your Creative Limits with Elegance and Personal Style

Blending far-out creativity and down to earth practicality is the challenge of every designer. Whether you’re creating an “over-the-top showpiece” or making original garments for your personal wardrobe, or a quilt or surface design project, you’ll want your own flavor of design to shine right along with your excellence of workmanship. Kayla will discuss the dance of using your bold and playful imagination while maintaining impeccable construction techniques. Find out Kayla’s tricks for defining a project’s parameters and making the best design decisions as your one-of-a-kind piece progresses step-by-step to artistic refinement. Slides of projects—from the sketch and supplies stage to the finished project—are filled with inspirational surprises. On display will be Kayla’s Crème de la Crème Bernina Fashion Showpieces as well as her easy and elegant silk art-to-wear garments and innovative art quilts. Kayla is sure to send you off feeling fully inspired and ready to take that next step on your own path of creativity and signature style.

LUNCH & WORKSHOP, 1:00PM-4 PM (Registration Required)

“Basic” Bias Tunic…or NOT!

Design and make your tunic with fit, flow and function. With Kayla’s new Vogue Pattern (#9188), the possibilities are endless. A simply constructed design leaves room for many variations and creativity. With Kayla’s personalized guidance you can change your sleeve length, add pockets, add a neckband, make it symmetrical, or NOT. The design can be cut on the bias for a woven fabric or on the straight of the grain for a knit.

There will be numerous sizes and variations in fabric and design available to try on (wear a cami).  Kayla is a relaxed and fun instructor, so be prepared to have a great afternoon. You may finish, or not…but will leave knowing how to make many more, all different, or not.
